Beaches
Oneroa is the main town of Waiheke Island, a 35-40 minute ferry from downtown Auckland. The pretty town has a number of arts and craft shops, souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants that take avantage of the stunning beach views.
The town of Oneroa also offers stunning views of the white sandy beach below and on clear days, views of the Coromandel Peninsula in the far distance.
Oneroa is maori for 'long beach' and is situated on the narrowest part of the Island, so walks to Park Point, Blackpool and Surfdale are easily eached from the centre of the main high street. Follow the Oneroa Beach towards Little Oneroa Beach and onto a great coastal walk to Newton Reserve and beyond.
Oneroa is the hub of some great walkways. From a five minute stroll to the beach, to a five hour circuit of Park Point. The walkways also provide off-road routes to Matiatia Wharf.
